Overview

Directive Consulting is the leading B2B performance marketing agency that delivers real revenue—not just leads. We use Customer Generation (a marketing methodology developed by us) to cut through the noise. We’re focused on driving pipeline, fueling SQLs, and scaling brands that are serious about growth across Paid Media, SEO, CRO, RevOps, and Go-To-Market Strategy for SaaS and B2B industries.

We move fast, think boldly, and hire people who challenge the status quo to push campaigns beyond expectations. If you live for performance, love solving hard problems, and want your work to mean something, you’ll fit right in. We’re shaping the future of marketing and invite you to build something that breaks the mold.

About The Role: The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist will handle more Enterprise clients and should have a deep understanding of their service line and its impact on other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You'll Do
  • Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices to achieve NSMs. Build the initial client strategy at project phase and continuously optimize based on the client’s goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance while adhering to Directive best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
  • Content and Campaigns: Craft creative briefs and content campaigns with ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
  • Best Practices and Metrics: Apply best practices to position clients to exceed goals, including LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, and Content Production.
  • Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during engagement, with approval by the Associate Director (AsD) in meetings.
  • Data Sources: Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.
  • Approvals: All goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client with the AsD.
  • Project Management: Ensure strategy execution, delegating tasks to team members and clients to progress toward goals. Use the project management tool Asana.
  • Team Coordination: Partner with Project Managers to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and due dates met, and communicated to the client. Collaborate with content writers and designers to deliver on time with high quality.
  • Communication: Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables and proactively update clients and internal leadership to drive results.
  • Proactive Communication: Communicate timelines for deliverables and progress, using Slack and bi-weekly meetings, and deliver regular cadence reporting.
  • Internal Reporting: Regularly report progress and impact to clients with a cadence: bi-weekly client meetings, NSM progress notes, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual reviews.
What You'll Bring
  • A proven track record of implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
  • Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
  • Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools.
  • Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
  • Agency experience and B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required.
Goals
  • NSM attainment: 100%
  • MRR retention: 96%
  • CSAT > 4.2
  • Upsells / Cross-sells / Referrals – ongoing opportunities for client growth with Directive
  • Look for opportunities to grow client engagements: expanding to additional services or increasing budgets
  • Encourage referrals at key moments (e.g., a new job for a primary contact, or a high CSAT score)
