A leading engineering firm in Toluca, Mexico, is seeking a Senior Interior Design Engineer to lead the development of automotive plastic components. Responsibilities include driving mechanical design using Siemens NX, guiding junior engineers, and performing structural evaluations using Altair SimSolid. The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design, have strong experience in plastic component design, and be passionate about innovative automotive design. A minimum B2 level in English is required.

We are looking for a Senior Interior Design Engineer to lead the development of plastic components for automotive interior and exterior systems.

Responsibilities
  • Drive high-quality mechanical design using Siemens NX (3D / 2D), creating assemblies, detailed drawings with GD&T, and ensuring manufacturability through strong DFM application and knowledge of plastic materials and injection molding processes.
  • Support the full design cycle from concept to documentation, bringing a proactive mindset, strong technical judgment, and teamwork skills.
  • Guide and validate junior engineers' work, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and first-pass quality.
  • Lead interior design activities with minimal supervision.
  • Perform structural performance evaluations using Altair SimSolid (basic CAE).
  • Review junior engineers' outputs and design hours.
  • Provide input during design reviews and manage change-control tools.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to optimize manufacturability and cost.
  • Participate in PDTs with GM Design Leaders (DLT) and Design Release Engineers (DRE).
  • Contribute to Vehicle Compartment Integration Team (CIT) reviews.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
  • Strong experience in plastic component design (interior & exterior).
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX for 3D modeling, 2D drawings, and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of materials, injection molding, and technical specifications.
  • Minimum B2 English.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
