We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse talented people to join Alcon. As a BPA Manager R&D supporting the R&D Finance Team, you will support the Associate Director of Finance R&D.
Key responsibilities include monthly spend forecasting (including assessment of risks / opportunities), variance analysis with concise commentary, and CapEx financial management. The role will consult with business leaders and the R&D finance team as appropriate to ensure proper allocation of resources OPEX and CAPEX expenses. Typical day will include: Execute month-end process for Clinical R&D, demonstrating business understanding, curiosity, and conveying explanations and actions effectively. Lead monthly spend forecasting (including assessment of risks / opportunities). Serve as financial lead on the CapEx process for Clinical with business counterparts. Lead the annual indirect TFC budget for headcount and personnel costs in related markets. Liaison with key stakeholders and assist in variance analysis and journal entry preparation. Collaborate in monthly financial reviews / quarterly business reviews, including template deck preparation, variance analysis, insights, comments, and presentation. Assist in PO troubleshooting as needed. Ensure adequate accounting reporting and control systems are in place to achieve forecast accuracy, identify and inform of potential risks and opportunities, and deliver productivity targets. Disciplined use of financial systems (ASPIRE, APMR, SAP, etc.) to manage and perform analytical analysis of financial results. Ownership and accountability of data integrity. Identify, prioritize and lead process improvements to drive value creation. Support the Associate Director of Finance R&D deliverables, including template design and ad-hoc analysis.
What you'll bring to Alcon: BS degree (5 years of experience); MS degree (2 years of experience) in finance or related field. 3-5 years of experience in a similar position. Proficiency in financial systems SAP and BI with ability to identify and retrieve cost information at a granular level. Prior finance operational experience with practical knowledge of relevant processes and shared service experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-national matrix organization, exhibiting leadership qualities. Excellent people and communication skills. Ability to critically review and improve initiative metrics. Problem-solving mindset with a strong passion for driving a simplification agenda. Ability to work in a demanding and resource-constrained environment. Proven track record for achievement and results-orientation. Excellent written and verbal English skills along with quantitative, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
