An innovative company is seeking a results-driven NPD Engineering Manager to lead cross-functional efforts in new product development. This role involves overseeing engineering activities from concept to production, enhancing consumer experience, and managing high-performing teams. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and have a minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in product development, ideally in a consumer products environment. Formación

In Fortune Brands Innovation, Inc., we are seeking a results-driven and collaborative NPD Engineering Manager to lead cross-functional engineering efforts across multiple product categories. You will be accountable for the successful execution of engineering activities during all phases of the new product development lifecycle—from concept to production readiness. This role requires strong technical leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to create and manage high-performing, globally integrated teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Accountable and responsible for New Product Development (NPD) Engineering activities (concept creation, engineering analysis, prototyping, CAD design, etc.) for all components/assemblies across multiple products/categories including: faucets, tub/shower faucets, entry door systems, and security products.
  2. Lead global coordination and assignment of technical project work, design reviews, and DRBFM/DFM/DFA. Create detailed plans to accomplish goals and manage the integration of technical activities.
  3. Standardize work to meet changing customer demands while facilitating efficient capture, sharing, and reuse of knowledge.
  4. Develop departmental plans and set organizational priorities. Create a cohesive and flexible team to execute the NPD plans.
  5. Lead engineering to collaborate with other Product Development Organizations globally to specify functional requirements, designs, and tests for the FBIN portfolio.
  6. Serve as a key member of and thought leader to the Product Development Engineering Leadership Team. Participate in the development and implementation of the Product Development Strategy to enable and drive growth, maximize efficiency and value, and execute with excellence. Develop and execute strategic objectives.
  7. Hire, develop, and manage a team of managers, technical managers, principal engineers, product engineers, and designers in a state-of-the-art, team-focused, collaborative engineering organization. Flex team to meet department plans or priorities, including internal and external resources.
  8. Work openly, cooperatively, and collaboratively with Operations, Platforms, and DtV teams to continually improve product efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and profitability.
  9. Evaluate design effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Create product and process evaluation methods (engineering analysis, testing, etc.) to meet product specifications.
  10. Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing and assembly partners to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly, ensuring supply chain performance.
  11. Collaborate with Marketing and the Innovation team to understand and drive the Consumer Experience into the FBIN portfolio of brands. Understand consumer needs/wants/desires and the consumer journey; apply these insights into impactful product innovations, attributes, and features.
  12. Serve as a key technical and process leader, collaborating with the Product Development Process team for execution and continuous improvement of product development processes and systems.
  13. Lead the supplier technical interface for supplier-led new product development programs. Create supplier design expectations, design validation methodologies, documentation control, etc.
  14. Drive creativity, development, and implementation of new product consumer-facing innovations through collaboration with Innovation team leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; an MBA (or other graduate degree) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in Quality, Reliability, and/or Product Development Engineering in a quality-driven, durable goods environment, plus experience in product testing, preferably with consumer products.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and commitment to world-class engineering, manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of test systems (electronic/electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in driving improvement and leading change throughout an organization.
  • Project Management experience in Quality and/or Product Development Engineering functions.
  • A strong passion and vision for Quality and continuous improvement. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent with standard PC tools (word processor, spreadsheets, database, etc.).
  • Bilingual.
