A manufacturing company in Ciudad Juárez is seeking a Commodity Purchasing Manager responsible for ensuring quality raw materials for production. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and over 5 years of experience in a maquiladora environment. Responsibilities include negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and conducting quality assessments. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required. This is a full-time permanent position with opportunities for professional growth.

Formación

  • 5+ years' experience in purchasing in a maquiladora environment.
  • High level Purchasing and Procurement experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish at 80% proficiency required.

Commodity Purchasing Manager

Position objective

In this position, you will be responsible for supplying the raw material to the company for the proper functioning of the production lines.

It will also be in charge of the Buyers and will review their functions.

You will negotiate with the supplier and it is a duty to know the material we work with.

You will need to complete the reports and maximize the levels of relationship with the supplier by ensuring that an adequate and quality level of stock is always available.

  • Bachelor 's degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years' experience in similar position in maquiladora environment

Main responsibilities
  • Understand the chemistry and physique about our product, its functions, quality requirements and hazards.
  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Assess, evaluate and suggest reliable commodity suppliers
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and elevate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors.
  • Reject all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.
  • Understand the requirements of products and services.
  • Know about improvements to the production process to ensure quality control.
  • Analyze global demands for the assigned commodities.
  • Handle and manage records and presentations for Staff meetings.
  • Implement and Advise management on purchases.
  • Collaborate with clients and staff to preserve commodity quality.
  • Interface between suppliers and operational team on buying processes.
  • Evaluate and improve costing techniques.
  • Facilitate communication between supplier and the various buying departments.
  • Protect and improve supplier relations with FMAP.
