A global engineering firm in Xico, Mexico, is looking for an experienced Electrical Designer to work on Robotics projects. You will create electrical designs for control panels, lead customer-facing projects, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate has over 3 years of experience in electrical design using EPLAN and holds a degree in Mechatronics or related fields. Overview

Join to apply for the Electrical Designer - Robotics projects role at ABB.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create and modify standard designs for equipment, systems, or installations, including specifications for manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, using established design concepts.

You will develop engineering solutions—drawings and calculations—based on contract specifications, contribute to design reviews and verification, and make necessary design adjustments.

The work model for the role is on site and the position supports the Robotics Business Unit, Robot Automotive division in Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical and pneumatic engineering designs for control panels and field devices as part of project execution.
  • Create bills of materials, manufacturing drawings, and connection diagrams.
  • Provide support to the purchasing department and project leaders.
  • Follow up on manufacturing processes and offer technical support to assembly and production teams.
  • Actively participate in project development teams, being responsible for the electrical scope both internally and with external machinery suppliers.
  • Serve as the electrical lead in customer‑facing projects, attending meetings and preparing documentation and deliverables.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety standards and collaborate with the engineering team to guarantee machinery safety and risk analysis compliance.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical design using EPLAN, including knowledge of Pro Panel and Pre‑Planning modules.
  • Solid understanding of electrical and pneumatic systems, robotic cell design, and international standards (IEC / NEMA).
  • Advanced English.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical/pneumatic consumption calculations, and familiarity with frequency drives, starters, and machine safety.
  • Experience with PLC hardware (Allen Bradley and Siemens) is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, or Automotive Systems Engineering.
