Join to apply for the Direct Tactical Buyer role at McCormick & Company. We are looking to hire a Direct Tactical Buyer in a hybrid capacity for our site in Mexico City. This role is 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Please submit your CV in English.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Materials Manager, the incumbent coordinates and conducts the purchase of ingredients, MRO, services, and packaging to support production and CAAP equipment. The Buyer ensures compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements and follows appropriate accounting practices. They maintain positive vendor relationships and collaborate on cost optimization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Utilize high‑performance systems (goal setting, performance management, problem solving, training & development, information systems, rewards & recognition) to maximize benefits of resources.
  • Conduct supplier performance management, ensuring vendor compliance in delivery and quality and participating in supplier reviews.
  • Manage existing supplier relationships, cultivate new ones, facilitate contracts and pricing agreements, and participate in planning & forecasting to establish standard costs.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to specify product standards and service criteria expected from suppliers.
  • Optimize buying power and best‑approach strategies (CBAs) by working with Buyers from other McCormick divisions.
  • Maintain cost containment for supply‑chain and plant purchases under managerial direction.
  • Lead and assist in continuous‑improvement projects focused on reducing costs and improving efficiencies.
  • Assist Engineering and Operations with required purchases and acquisitions related to CAAPs.
  • Serve as liaison to Corporate Purchasing, providing feedback and recommendations to improve vendor performance.
  • Monitor daily orders, expedite deliveries, and analyze product usage to maintain safe‑stock levels and meet inventory objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in purchasing/supply‑chain within FMCG, with knowledge of procurement, logistics, IT, and materials management.
  • Proficiency with PC software, particularly SAP, Excel, Word, and Lotus Notes.
  • Strong contract, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of sourcing processes and proven expertise in one or more categories.
  • Ability to independently research options, develop project plans, and seek approval when needed.
  • Advanced / fluent English (spoken & written).
