Responsibilities
- The Dimensional Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving vehicle quality and fit/finish based on key process metrics. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with production, maintenance, suppliers, and quality teams to resolve dimensional concerns and ensure process control compliance.
- Focus on body structure, closures, interior, exterior, and chassis dimensional engineering.
- Drive dimensional engineering from start to finish. Build up to vehicle level dimensional simulation models in a rigid and compliant environment. Correlate the simulation models with real world dimensional performance.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions based on internal audits and customer complaints, working closely with all engineering departments, suppliers, supply chain, supplier quality, manufacturing, quality, and metrology.
- Conduct dimensional simulations through 3DCS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive, Mechatronic, Mechanical Engineering and/or related
- 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry in dimensional engineering.
- Knowledge of AIAG and VDA standards and processes such as special characteristics, FMEA, statistical evaluation of measurement systems, statistical process control, initial sampling, control plan, problem solving.
- Alignment system definition RPS/Datums, tolerance definition (DIN ISO GPS, ASME).
- Lean six sigma.
- Knowledge of 3DCS is a plus
- Fluent English (Conversational level)
- German (desirable)
