Responsibilities
- Reporting to the IT leadership, the ideal candidate brings deep expertise in automation deployment at scale, with proven experience integrating autonomous systems in complex industrial environments. In partnership with our manufacturing Engineering leads, you’ll be architecting solutions that span from automation to intelligent facility monitoring, while building the teams and capabilities to support our global manufacturing footprint. This role requires someone who can bridge the technical complexity of automation in discrete manufacturing with the practical realities of manufacturing operations.
- Define and execute automation vision for global manufacturing facilities, establishing governance frameworks and multi-year roadmaps
- Architect scalable automation systems including robotic inspections, autonomous material handling, and intelligent monitoring solutions
- Lead evaluation and deployment of automation platforms or robotic platforms (quadrupeds, AMRs, custom solutions) across multiple sites
- Design integration patterns between automation, IoT systems, manufacturing execution systems and ERP systems
- Establish ROI models and business cases for automation initiatives
- Deployment & Operations: In close collaboration with our Manufacturing operation, deploy and scale automation initiatives across global facilities, ensuring reliable operations
- Build data pipelines, collection systems, and analytics dashboards for proactive maintenance
- Infrastructure & Connectivity: Work closely with IT infrastructure to design and validate network including wireless infrastructure for automation connectivity (private 5G networks, mesh, etc)
- Implement edge computing solutions for real-time control and data processing
- Integrate automation with existing facility management and SCADA systems
- Leadership & Development: Lead high-performance workshop with automation engineers and site technicians
- Develop training programs and certification paths for automation operations
- Foster partnerships with automation vendors and technology providers, mentor facilities members on automation technologies and best practices
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 5 years of experience in automation deployment and operations in industrial environments
- 2+ Years experience in automation within Ignition Platform
- Proven track record of deploying robotic systems at scale
- Full competency in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or similar high-tech industrial environments
- Knowledge of private 5G/LTE networks and industrial ethernet technologies
- Experience with computer vision
- Background in facilities management, building automation, or industrial maintenance
- Track record of implementing Industry 4.0 and digital transformation initiatives
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent deployments
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams including facilities, IT, and operations
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance and reliability engineering principles
- Excellent communication skills for presenting to executive leadership
