Are you passionate about Windows system administration and want to grow in challenging and impactful IT projects? We are looking for a Windows System Administrator to join our IT team. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in Microsoft Windows Server environments, virtualization, Active Directory, and system automation.

📍Location: La Spezia / On-site

Responsibilities
  • Perform day‑to‑day administration of Windows Server hardware and software, including Active Directory, Group and Security Policies, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Execute standard operational procedures, including infrastructure configuration, installation, maintenance, and system/data backups.
  • Review and install system software updates, tailoring software to maximize hardware functionality.
  • Develop scripts to automate system administration processes.
  • Assist in release management plans, including rollout and rollback procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain technical and service-oriented documentation for assigned systems.
  • Coordinate with the Service Desk to optimize efficiency between 1st and 2nd line support and provide on‑the‑job training.
  • Monitor assigned systems proactively, report performance issues, and generate availability statistics.
  • Advise management on corrective or procurement actions to address system weaknesses.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with IT technology trends to provide state‑of‑the‑art support.
  • Perform duties at the Centre as well as deployed platforms (e.g., Research Vessels) as needed.
  • Carry out other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Higher vocational training or equivalent in a relevant discipline; higher education plus practical experience is also acceptable.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
  • In-depth experience with WSUS and SCCM.
  • Experience with Certificate Authority (CA) and Network Policy Server (NPS).
  • Experience with IT systems virtualization and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, email clients, web browsers, and Web Content Management.
  • Strong service‑minded attitude and ability to work directly with users.
  • Skilled in developing scripts for system administration.
  • Ability to ensure physical and electronic security of systems.
  • Proficiency in English (written and oral).
Desirable
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
  • VMware or Microsoft Windows Server certifications (e.g., MCSA).
  • Experience with hybrid Linux/Active Directory environments.
  • Broad experience with ITIL Service Management framework.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Configuration Control and IT collaboration tools.
  • Experience in international environments with both military and civilian elements.
  • Scripting and automation using PowerShell.
  • Current certifications such as Security+, Network+, or other vendor‑neutral certifications.
