The role involves analysis, verification, and validation of requirements for safety critical systems, as well as software testing, documentation, and collaboration in a multicultural team. Candidates should have advanced skills in C/C++, embedded programming, and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Good English proficiency is required.

Overview

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated VALIDATION ENGINEER who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Accountabilities

• Analysis, verification and validation of requirements (functional and non-functional, architectural, software, hardware) allocated to the generic product level integrated in safety critical systems and applications;
• Design, implementation, execution and verification of software tests at various levels: SW unit/component; SW/SW integration; HW/SW integration;
• Design, implementation, execution and verification of functional and integration tests at subsystem and generic product level;
• Drafting of the documentary set relating to the overall set of V&V activities;
• Preparation and execution of test activities in laboratory environment and on systems in the real installation environment;
• Support for preliminary commissioning and integration activities;
• Verification/debugging of HW/SW anomalies/errors by means of logs analysis

Required skills and knowledge

• Advanced knowledge of C and C++ languages
• Advanced knowledge of embedded programming and Real Time environments
• Advanced knowledge of SW Engineering Life Cycle
• Good knowledge of Cenelec Standards (50126, 50129, 50128)
• Knowledge and use of DOORS tool for requirements analysis and verification
• Knowledge and use of RTC/EWM tool for configuration management and bug reporting and tracking
• Knowledge and use of RQM/ETM tool for test management
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visual studio
• Good knowledge and use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
• Knowledge of main laboratory measuring instruments
• Ability to understand a schematic diagram
• Ability to manage activity schedule and periodic reporting
• Ability to work in a multicultural international environment

Education/Qualifications

Educated to Bachelor in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical background.

Languages

Good English proficiency.
