Overview

Description- MAPFRE RE, professional reinsurer of the MAPFRE Group and one of the leading reinsurers in the world, is currently looking for an Underwriter in Milan, Italy. This position requires experience within the reinsurance industry, as well as strong analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price Property & Casualty Treaty business in the Milan Branch Region (Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta).
• Analyse underwriting submissions and reinsurance structures with the aim to develop solutions in agreement with Technical Criteria set by HQ UW Department.
• Manage a portfolio of profitable business in the Team with the focus on maintaining requested profitability and adequate level of service to our Clients.
• Collaborate with Market Manager to develop and execute on a business plan together with the local UW team.
• Conduct and enable risk analyses, reporting on technical results and important Market losses and contribute to drafting local underwriting policy.
• Marketing activity in the specific region including regular travel and meeting with Clients.
• Contribute to group projects in cross functional and international teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years' experience in P&C reinsurance Pricing or Underwriting.
• Market knowledge and experience in any of the focussed regions.
• Strong communicator and a real team player.
• Flexible and open to change.
• Sound analytic skills demonstrated through an understanding of underwriting concepts and contractual language.
• Microsoft Office skills and the ability to understand and use in-house pricing tools.
• University degree in Law, Economics, Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Italian, English, Spanish. Other languages are a benefit.
