The incumbent plans, coordinates, and executes the movement of passengers, military supplies, equipment, and humanitarian rations to support peacetime, wartime, contingency, and exercise operations into, through, and out of Italy and various locations throughout the Southern Region. They also support customer activities in the Vicenza area. Responsibilities include coordinating freight and military shipment documentation, advising on dangerous goods transportation, ensuring proper cargo loading and securing, and authorizing shipments.
The role involves evaluating transportation modes based on cost, quantity, weight, dimensions, hazardous items, destination, and capacity, selecting the most economical and efficient options, and coordinating with carriers. The incumbent also oversees cargo inspection upon arrival, manages transportation discrepancies, and maintains liaison with commercial transportation firms and customs officers. They operate military vehicles to support shipment coordination.
Tour of duty: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 0800 to 1700, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
