Responsibilities
- Provide amazing customer service and travel advice – guiding morning hikes, market visits, hands‑on craft workshops, or arranging home‑cooked meals with local families.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of your travellers, remaining calm and professional in difficult situations such as lost passports, medical needs, or conflicts.
- Host, lead and execute tours according to budget and itinerary, and fulfill all administrative duties.
- Be passionate about travel and share your love of it with our customers.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills in English and Italian.
- A valid GAE Licence – Environmental Hiking Guide (Professional Qualification) covering guiding on foot, by bike, kayak and other non‑motorised activities in both protected and non‑protected environments.
- Strong customer service experience, with a genuine passion for engaging and building rapport with a wide range of travellers.
- Solid hiking and/or cycling experience, including a practical and mechanical understanding of hiking equipment, bicycles and basic maintenance.
- Confidence and a high level of fitness, able to lead hiking days of up to 10–15 km and cycling days of up to 70–80 km.
- Travel and guiding experience in Italy and across Europe, with a genuine enthusiasm for sharing these regions and their stories with travellers.
- Basic computer skills, including experience using email, Word and Excel.
- Full rights to work in Italy (we are unable to assist with obtaining work rights).
What You Need to Know
- This is a freelance agreement role, offering flexibility in when and how you work. Strong availability during peak seasons (May–June and September–October) is essential.
- Training and onboarding scheduled for March 2026.
- Extended hours, regular hiking and cycling activities, and constant engagement with travellers require mental and physical preparedness.
- Leaders often travel for extended periods; some tours can run for up to four weeks.
