Responsibilities
- Define and deploy a vision and strategy for a standard technical approach for all IM capital projects.
- Oversee the creation of Facility and Equipment processes and standards to ensure safe, compliant and reliable transitions from project build to start-up, including design, construction, commissioning and handover to operations and maintenance.
- Provide end-to-end engineering technical support and guidance to capital projects from concept to handover in the areas of facility business need, facility design, construction, commissioning and process validation for strategic green field and brown field IM facilities.
- Provide guidance and overarching technical leadership in Facility & Equipment design.
- Oversee asset management engineering standards and processes to ensure a smooth transition from project build to operations, supporting new equipment projects.
- Provide leadership and oversight to site asset management functions, including vision, strategy, operating model and operating budget.
- Provide technical support for asset management organizational structures, processes, procedures, technology and systems including CMMS, data management, 5-year asset management plan, and smart maintenance philosophy.
- Integrate IM Managing Assets and FM Hard Services requirements into one cohesive site asset management approach.
- Collaborate with project teams and end-state site engineering teams to ensure integration and seamless handover from project to operations.
- Ensure IDEA and related business processes are followed to maximize value and impact, including governance, resourcing, prioritization, cash flow, risk management and performance management.
- Collaborate with JJIM business units to provide strategic insights into growth strategy and future pipeline.
- Establish an end-to-end capital projects management performance framework for a portfolio over $8B to deliver value for E&PS and IM.
- Define objective capital prioritization aligned with IM R&D, Supply Chain and Commercial requirements; allocate capital efficiently across investments.
- Establish a process excellence framework for large capital projects and deploy software to digitize governance.
- Use data-driven insights and market intelligence to inform decisions and stay informed on industry and regulatory trends.
- Lead the External Manufacturing assessment program with a standard approach for assessment, monitoring and performance control.
- Lead and develop a high-performing organization with a culture of collaboration, accountability and innovation; mentor and coach engineering leaders and cultivate talent.
- Collaborate with the Global Engineering Technology (GET) team to align with technology standards, project execution and manufacturing technology specifications.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer specifications.
- Proactively research and implement new standards to drive growth and efficiency.
- Report regularly to senior management on activities and status.

Collaborate closely with all E&PS functions, IM business partners, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, QA, and EHS teams. Key interfaces include:

Requirements
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills and a proven track record of driving engineering excellence to lead the development and implementation of leading-edge engineering standards. The candidate will drive innovative facility design standardization, ensuring seamless integration at all sites. The candidate must have knowledge in the following areas:
- Facility design
- Facility construction
- Facility commissioning and qualification
- Asset Management
- Maintenance, Calibration and Reliability management
- Biotherapeutics, Synthetics, Advanced Therapies and Medicinal products
- External Manufacturing Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's engineering degree required; Master’s/MBA/PhD preferred.
- Minimum 20 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
- Hands-on experience designing, constructing, commissioning or qualifying manufacturing process equipment.
- Minimum 20 years asset management, maintenance, reliability and project engineering experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a global technical leadership role.
- Minimum 10 years of large capital project management experience over $500 million.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and communicate effectively in a high-profile environment.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Willingness to travel at least 25% domestically and internationally.
- Primary work location: hybrid remote and in-office.
