Join Ahlstrom as a Technical Customer Service Engineer Laboratory & Life Science Business Unit

Location: Turin, Italy (initially) and China

Contract Type : initial temporary contract in Italy (68 months) leading to a permanent local contract in China

Business Unit : Laboratory and Life Science (Lab & Life Science)

Position Summary :

At Ahlstrom in our Business Unit LLS we develop and manufacture high-performance fiber-based materials used in everyday applications across Laboratory Diagnostics and Bioprocess industries. Known for our quality reliability and innovation we are now expanding our Laboratory and Life Science business. To support this growth we are looking for a passionate and results-driven Technical Customer Service Engineer to join our international team.

As a Technical Customer Service Engineer you will play a key role in supporting customers and internal stakeholders across EMEA and APAC regions. Working closely with Product Management, Sales Operations, Regulatory Compliance and R&D.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Technical Support & Customer Interface: Act as a technical liaison between the company and customers across the EMEA region providing expert support during product validation testing and implementation. Analyze technical feedback and test results to guide customers through product selection and application ensuring optimal performance of our Lab & Life Sciences portfolio.
  • Product Development & Process Transfer: Contribute to the development and industrialization of new products and production processes. Play a key role in the process of transfer grade process ensuring technical consistency, process stability and alignment with market requirements.
  • Scientific Analysis & Quality Specifications: Manage and evaluate all scientific aspects related to product performance including defining and refining product specifications and quality parameters. Collaborate closely with the Quality department to establish review and update test methods, control parameters and compliance criteria for Lab & LS products.
  • Market & Product Intelligence: Continuously enhance the company\'s technical expertise in the Laboratory and Life Sciences markets. Monitor industry trends regulatory updates and competitive offerings to support the strategic positioning and evolution of our Lab & LS portfolio.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management and Sales teams to support commercial initiatives with technical insights and product training. Contribute to the creation of marketing and technical documentation, presentations and product datasheets tailored to customer needs.
  • Portfolio Support: Provide comprehensive technical support for a diverse range of materials including cellulose, cotton, micro glass and quartz. Help define the scientific and technical requirements of these product families to expand their use in Laboratory and Life Science applications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in technical problem-solving, non-conformance analysis and customer complaint resolution. Propose improvements to products, processes and services based on data analysis and customer feedback to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications :

  • Masters degree (MSc) in a scientific or engineering discipline, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field
  • Prior experience or strong interest in Laboratory and Technical Filtration technologies is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated structured and methodical working style with a strong ability to set and manage priorities effectively
  • Results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on execution, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence in interpreting and utilizing numerical data for decision-making
  • Proven problem-solving abilities capable of addressing complex technical challenges with practical solutions
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in English both written and verbal
  • Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear commercially relevant insights tailored to diverse audiences
  • Fast learner with a proactive curious and adaptable mindset eager to acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Reliable, accountable and collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and corporate collaboration tools; familiarity with Salesforce or CRM systems is a plus.
  • High proficiency in English is essential; additional languages such as French, Swedish, Spanish, German or Italian are considered valuable assets.
