What is the role?

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, designing, and overseeing the development of space systems, including satellites, ground segments, and user devices. Your role involves translating user and stakeholder requirements into detailed system and subsystem specifications, and guiding the engineering teams throughout the system's lifecycle. You will develop system architectures, manage system validation, and ensure optimal performance from both space and ground components.

Some of your daily tasks will also include:
  • Coordinating the design and development of space systems by breaking down high-level requirements into detailed technical specifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand payload requirements and translate them into system specifications
  • Collaborating with software and hardware engineers to align components and optimize overall system performance
  • Engaging with stakeholders to gather and refine user requirements, ensuring their needs are met from concept to deployment
  • Conducting end-to-end validation and performance modeling to ensure seamless integration and operation of the systems
  • Writing and managing technical requirements to guide the project towards successful execution.
  • Implement test procedures to verify payload performance and reliability
  • Utilize various programming languages and tools to develop software components and systems
  • Work closely with hardware engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated satellite solutions.
  • Design and develop software solutions for satellite payloads, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Utilize various programming languages and tools to develop software components and systems
What do we look for?
  • BSc or MSc degree in aerospace engineering, electronics, computer science, wireless communications, or similar fields
  • Experience in the design of space systems from proposal stage through to detailed design.
  • Experience in systems-of-systems design and system performance modeling, with high-level requirements decomposition into well-defined system and subsystem requirements.
  • Experience in End-to-End validation of space systems including both space and ground components.
  • Knowledge of satellite communications (Link budgets, protocols, commercial products)
  • Professional requirements writing experience
How to Stand Out
  • Previous experience in project execution applying ECSS standards
  • System modeling and simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink and Python
  • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures
  • Knowledge of security architectures and standards applicable to space systems.
  • Knowledge of satellite onboard processing and image processing and the potential use of AI algorithms for edge computing.
