Senior DevOps Engineer - Italy (Ispra)

📍 Ispra, Italy - Hybrid (2 days on-site per week)

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a long-term project within a European research and innovation environment. You will work on‑site in Ispra (2 days per week) and support a wide ecosystem of tools, infrastructure, and DevOps processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands‑on technical expertise and solid experience in automation, CI/CD, Linux systems, and containerised environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain GitLab CI/CD servers and pipelines.
• Oversee containerised environments using Docker and Swarm clusters.
• Develop automation workflows using Ansible.
• Administer and troubleshoot Ubuntu LTS Linux systems.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases, including Barman backup, restore procedures, and master‑slave configuration.
• Ensure proper backup and recovery policies across systems.
• Provide end‑user support for day‑to‑day operational issues.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security.
• Apply strong networking knowledge in daily activities.
