A leading engineering firm in Italy is seeking a Supplier Qualification and Quality Assurance Senior Inspector. This role involves ensuring product and process quality compliance across the supply chain, coordinating supplier inspections, and collaborating with project management. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in supplier quality inspection, preferably in fabricated steelwork. Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and knowledge of NDT methods are essential. Expected to travel worldwide as needed.

About the Role

Ensure product and process quality compliance throughout the supply chain, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and contractual standards. This role involves overseeing supplier qualification, quality control, and quality documentation management, collaborating with Purchasing, Project Management, Expediting, and Shipping to ensure the final product meets customer expectations and company objectives.

Responsibilities

• Act as a quality reference point for the customer.
• Coordinate a pool of inspectors for a dedicated project.
• Conduct direct supplier inspections to verify technical and contractual compliance on machines.
• Evaluate technical documents and product specifications to ensure quality throughout all phases of manufacturing.
• Use measuring and testing instruments to monitor products and processes.
• Collaborate with planning and project management functions via ERP systems (SAP).
• Monitor and improve supplier quality performance.
• Prepare and update quality control documentation for ongoing projects.
• Perform technical acceptance and final equipment inspection activities.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, noting deviations or defects found to ensure traceability and quality control.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., metallurgy, engineering) preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in supplier quality inspection for fabricated steelwork, mechanical equipment, and related industrial components.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, technical documents, and specifications.
• Knowledge of NDT methods (e.g., VT, PT, MT, UT).
• Good knowledge of welding inspections in accordance with EN ISO 3834, EN 1090, ASME code.

Preferred Skills

• Preferred certification (nice-to-have): IWE/IWT – International Welding Engineer / International Welding Technologist (EWF/IIW).
• NDT Level II in one or more methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) – Non-Destructive Testing Certification.
• FOSIO or NACE Coating and Painting Inspector.
• Availability for worldwide trips.
