Position Overview

Space Industries S.p.A., a leading aerospace company specialized in the assembly, integration, and testing of small satellites, is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Quality & Product Assurance team.

The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance, reliability, and quality throughout the space production process, from component procurement to satellite integration and testing.

This position requires a solid background in quality assurance within the aerospace industry, familiarity with ECSS standards, and strong experience in space manufacturing processes.

The role is both strategic and operational, supporting production teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure all deliverables meet the demanding requirements of space programs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure full compliance of production processes with ECSS standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures
  • Monitor and support quality assurance throughout the entire product lifecycle: procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and delivery
  • Perform in-process inspections, reviews, and quality verifications on components, subsystems, and satellite assemblies
  • Participate in MRR, TRR, TRB, QR, FR and other project reviews, providing quality oversight and documentation
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), RFD/RFW, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Verify and approve quality documentation: CoC, CoM, inspection reports, test reports, verification reports and acceptance data packages
  • Conduct process audits and supplier quality assessments, ensuring adherence to space program standards
  • Collaborate with AIT, Engineering, and Product Assurance teams to resolve technical and quality issues
  • Support configuration control, documentation management, and traceability of production items
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of production and quality processes
Requirements
  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance roles within the aerospace sector, preferably on small satellite or spacecraft programs
  • Strong knowledge of ECSS standards (especially ECSS-Q series) and space program requirements
  • Proven experience in space production environments, including AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test)
  • Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies (NCR, 8D, FMEA, root cause analysis)
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and structured approach with a focus on compliance and reliability
  • Capability to work autonomously and interface effectively with multidisciplinary teams and customers
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Holder of a valid category B driving license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ESA / ASI projects and institutional programs
  • Knowledge of EN 9100 or ISO 9101 quality management systems
  • Experience with configuration management and ERP tools
  • Certification in Quality Management or Product Assurance
