A leading insurance firm based in Milan seeks an Underwriting professional to develop and execute strategies for Property and Multinational risks. The role involves ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and managing a team to achieve financial targets. Ideal candidates will have a Master's degree and 3-5 years of experience in underwriting, particularly with corporate clients and a strong grasp of risk assessment and market analysis.

Job Purpose/Role

Based in Milan and reporting to the Property Team, you will be in charge of developing and executing the strategy for the Property & Multinational risks into the Italian market. With strong ties to the Group, you will also support the local strategy to ensure the successful achievement of the Allianz Mid Corporate targets. You will be also the contact person for agents and/or brokers working with the Property Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure underwriters comply with underwriting authority, pricing and rating guidelines.
  • Steer and control the portfolio at local level in conjunction with the Head of Property to drive the achievement of financial targets.
  • Proactively liaise with functional areas to review performance of end-to-end underwriting life cycle.
  • Work closely with Sales departments, Risk Consulting, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross-selling.
  • Ensure underwriting consistency and underwriting discipline and adherence to all corporate guidelines and authority levels, including Rules and Principles, Underwriting Authorities, corporate governance rules and local regulatory framework.
  • Proactively support the development and implementation of new and/or modified products.
  • Support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including agent and broker negotiations).
  • Communicate local business strategy externally.

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Economics or Law
  • At least 3 to 5 years' proven experience in underwriting profitable Property business for Corporate Clients both PD/BI and Theft
  • Preference if also experienced in Multinational clients as well as knowledge in Liability.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Expertise in risk assessment and a firm understanding of policy administration life cycle.
  • Sound knowledge of pricing, together with strong market analysis skills
  • Ideally experience in designing, developing, and implementing consistent and robust wordings
  • Ideally experience in driving underwriting projects
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work in an international organization.
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • Data analytics

Very good knowledge in Office 365 and other collaborative tools
