Amazon Web Services (AWS) Global Financial Services (GFS) team is looking for an experienced and motivated technologist who possesses a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills. As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will partner with some of the world’s largest financial services firms, AWS Sales and other AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS services.

This role will drive AWS technology adoption and revenue growth across a small set of global financial services customers. As a trusted customer advocate, the Principal Solutions Architect will help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions, and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will have the opportunity to help shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within global financial services customers.

The ideal candidate must be self‑motivated with a proven track record in software/technology architecture or consulting. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical to a solutions architect. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges.

  • Have a deep understanding of large-scale, mission-critical solutions in the financial services industry. Past experience working as a systems engineer/architect in financial services industry. Strong technical skills and desire to contribute to deep architecture discussions.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • As a key member of the customer account team, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services on the AWS platform.
  • In partnership with the customer account team, formulate and execute strategy for successful adoption of AWS technologies.
  • Own the overall technical relationship between customers and AWS and make recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Educate customers of all sizes on the value proposition of AWS, participating in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
  • Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
  • Capture and share best‑practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community.
  • Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer‑facing publications such as whitepapers.
  • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.

Basic Qualifications
  • 15+ years of specific technology domain experience (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent.
  • Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, and publications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of large‑scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
  • Strong presentations and whiteboarding skills, comfortable speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
  • Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.

Compensation

The base pay for this position ranges from $164,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $284,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company; equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total package.
