WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Network Infrastructure Engineer - European Commission

Join our client’s team as a Network Infrastructure Engineer for the prestigious Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Ispra (Varese).

With over 30 years of experience, our client is a trusted partner of European governments and international organizations, specializing in IT and space services, providing operational and engineering support for Earth observation missions, data processing, and applied research.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a large-scale campus network infrastructure supporting 2,500 users across various locations. You should have a deep understanding of Cisco technologies, network security, and automation to ensure the reliability and efficiency of network systems.

YOUR TASKS
  • Design, implement, and maintain campus network infrastructure for 2,500 users.
  • Manage and optimize Cisco technologies, including Catalyst 9000, IOS-XE, and Stack configurations.
  • Administer and troubleshoot switching (VLANs, EtherChannel, STP) and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • Lead migration to Cisco ACI for large-scale data center projects (150 racks, 20,000 VMs).
  • Manage Cisco data center technologies (Nexus 9000, 7000, NX-OS).
  • Automate tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, and tools like Ansible, Netmiko, REST API, and GIT.
  • Administer WAN infrastructure (IPSec VPN, MPLS, DMVPN, SSL-VPN) across multiple countries.
  • Implement and manage network security with Cisco Firepower and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Oversee Wi-Fi management with Cisco WLC controllers.
  • Monitor network performance using SNMP and Syslog tools.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Expertise in Cisco network technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.
  • Expertise in high availability technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco data center technologies and ACI migration.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems and automation scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with network automation tools (Netmiko, REST API, Ansible, GIT).
  • Experience managing WAN infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of network security.
  • Experience with TACACS+ Authentication, DHCP, and DNS services.
  • Proven experience with Wi-Fi deployment and management.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • Certification in CCNA / CCNP Enterprise.
  • Good command of English (B1 or higher).
