A leading insurance company based in Milan is looking for a Marine Cargo Underwriter. The role involves developing strategies for Marine Cargo risks and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree in Economics, have 3 to 5 years of underwriting experience in Marine Cargo, and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. Fluent English is required, and a grasp of data analytics is preferred. This is a full-time position offering a mid-senior level experience.

Competenze

  • Experience in Marine Hull and Yacht is a plus.

Job Purpose/Role

Based in Milan and reporting to the Specialty Team, you will be in charge of developing and executing the strategy for the Marine Cargo risks into the Italian market. With strong ties to the Group, you will also support the local strategy to ensure the successful achievement of the Allianz Mid Corporate targets. You will also act as the contact person for agents and/or brokers working with the Marine Cargo team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure underwriters comply with underwriting authority, pricing and rating guidelines
  • Steer and control the portfolio at local level in conjunction with the Head of Marine Cargo to drive the achievement of financial targets
  • Proactively liaise with functional areas to review performance of end-to-end underwriting life cycle
  • Work closely with Sales departments, Risk Consulting, Claims and other product lines to achieve key marketing strategies, including cross‑selling
  • Ensure underwriting consistency, underwriting discipline and adherence to all corporate guidelines and authority levels, including Rules and Principles, Underwriting Authorities, corporate governance rules and local regulatory framework
  • Proactively support the development and implementation of new and/or modified products
  • Support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including agent and broker negotiations)
  • Communicate local business strategy externally
Key Requirements / Skills / Experience
  • Master's degree in Economics
  • 3/5 years proven experience in underwriting profitable Marine Cargo business for Corporate and Multinational clients
  • Preference if also experienced in Marine Hull and Yacht
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Expertise in risk assessment and a firm understanding of policy administration life cycle
  • Sound knowledge of pricing, together with strong market analysis skills
  • Ideally experience in designing, developing, and implementing consistent and robust wordings
  • Ideally experience in driving underwriting projects
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work in an international organization
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • Very good knowledge in Office 365 and other collaborative tools
  • Data analytics
