JOB PURPOSE

MSC Cruises, the 3rd largest cruise operator globally, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Project Portfolio Specialist within the Support Functions domain, specifically ERP, Supply Chain, HR and Guest Services, you’ll play a pivotal role in streamlining IT portfolio management activities from end-to-end. Your responsibilities extend to ensuring a centralized and consolidated view for project governing authorities, facilitating informed decision-making processes.

Your involvement will be integral to the global implementation and execution of the IT portfolio management framework. You’ll act as a crucial liaison between IT Portfolio Managers and their IT Program counterparts, overseeing the delivery of necessary components across various IT application, integration, and infrastructure levels to effectively enable Support Functions solutions.

Reporting directly to the IT Project Portfolio and Risk Manager, and collaborating with the Support Functions team and IT project stakeholders (including IT PMOs, and PMs), your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the overall efficiency of IT project portfolio. Candidates with prior experience in IT PMO and PM roles, particularly those skilled in managing complex Support Functions projects, will be highly valued and appreciated.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Facilitate strategic planning and other governance meetings to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and the Support Functions domain’s priorities.
  • Collect and challenge Program or Project Initiation Requests and Business Cases to enhance their quality and assign candidate investments to specific portfolios.
  • Support the communication of strategy within the organization, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Centralize resource demand and supply data, meticulously identifying gaps and over-allocations, and maintain a comprehensive Portfolio Repository to furnish accurate data for decision-making.
  • Gather, manage, and analyze macro-level information pertaining to programs and projects, contributing to insightful portfolio analysis and the development of management dashboards tailored to the Support Functions landscape.
  • Assist Support Functions Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Steering Committee in their portfolio management activities, providing necessary support and insights.
  • Drive improvements in portfolio, program, and project management processes and artifacts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to established methodologies across all programs and projects with the Support Functions portfolio, exercising oversight to maintain adherence to project and program governance standards, and uphold compliance and quality benchmarks.
  • Issue governance directives to Program and Project Managers, collaborating closely to refine processes, methodologies, and tools that underpin portfolio management. Proactively propose enhancements to the portfolio framework to the Portfolio Manager, driving continuous improvement in IT portfolio management practices.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in project, program or portfolio management or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English, additional European language proficiency is advantageous.
  • 3+ years of experience in complex IT project and program management, preferably in a management consulting capacity.
  • Solid experience in IT PMO or PM roles, managing multi-year, multi-million-dollar projects in parallel.
  • Proficiency in IT project portfolio management tools.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, with a track record of delivering creative solutions to business challenges.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
