A professional services firm is seeking an Interim Finance Director to support the financial integration of a newly acquired business in Italy. This role involves managing local finance operations and collaborating with leadership to ensure compliance with financial regulations. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance and fluency in Italian and English, along with 5–10+ years of experience in a corporate finance environment. This position allows for hybrid working after an initial on-site integration phase.

Exclusively partnering with a PE-backed group that have made a recent acquisition in Genoa.

This new acquisition will require an interim Finance Director (initial 12 month contract) to integrate into the group whilst managing the local finance team and partnering closely with the Group CFO and Italy MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial integration of a recently acquired service/project business into a new operational entity in Italy.
  • Collaborate with the Group CFO to establish and manage the monthly financial closing and reporting process.
  • Serve as a finance business partner to the local Managing Director and team, offering financial insights and hands-on support to drive stable operations and profitable growth.
  • Implement a monthly closing cycle within the newly created Italian entity, leveraging existing systems of the acquired business.
  • Oversee financial elements of the transition services agreement, including payments, subcontracting costs, and license fees.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Coordinate financial operations and communications with auditors, external advisors, and the global finance team.

Requirements

  • Fluency in both Italian and English (spoken and written).
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong knowledge of the Italian business environment and local financial reporting regulations.
  • 5–10+ years of relevant experience in an international USGAAP or IFRS corporate finance environment (mandatory).

Working Model

  • Hybrid/remote work supported after an initial on-site phase.
  • On-site presence required during the first 3–6 months to establish financial processes and integrate the new entity, after which greater remote flexibility is possible.
