A leading pharmaceutical automation manufacturer is seeking a Service Engineer to join their team in Italy. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of experience with complex automation systems and speak advanced English and Italian. This role entails supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers, conducting maintenance, and may require occasional travel. The company offers competitive salary (€40K - €48K) and benefits including performance bonuses and a company car. Applicants must have a valid local driving license and the right to work in Italy.

About The Role

As a Service Engineer / Service Technician you will work from a home office and be responsible for:

  • Operating in an 80% mechanical and 20% electrical role.
  • Working within a service engineering team supporting pharmaceutical manufacturers across Italy.
  • Attending a low number of customer calls as each case can be extremely complicated and time consuming.
  • On rare occasions operating as part of an installation team to complete new equipment installations, commissioning and user training.
  • Supporting customers outside of Italy should an emergency occur requiring your support.
  • Working to preventative maintenance and installation work which is often booked 2-3 months in advance, whilst also reacting to more pressing breakdowns and repairs.
  • Working with the engineering planner to coordinate activities and movements.
  • Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding, problem resolution and repair.
  • Completing service visit reports.
About You

The successful candidate will possess at least 2+ years of service engineering / technician experience, gained working on complex pharmaceutical automation equipment (robotics, conveyors, pick / place or other pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment).

Candidates must speak advanced level English, a good level of Italian and be multi‑skilled with a mechanical focus. You must be comfortable with travel and nights away when needed.

A degree level education is beneficial, but not essential, as is experience working in a cleanroom or sterile environment.

It is, however, essential you have a logical and methodical approach to finding faults and be comfortable with travel and spending time away from home.

A valid local driving license is essential, as is the right to work in Italy. My client doesn’t offer sponsorship.
