Senior R&D Formulator – K-Beauty
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Formulator with strong expertise in Korean skincare and cosmetic formulation (K-Beauty). The ideal candidate will develop innovative, trend-driven products, understand global ingredient trends, and collaborate closely with internal teams and clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop skincare and cosmetic formulations aligned with K-Beauty standards: lightweight textures, high‑efficacy actives, clean beauty concepts, and innovative sensorial profiles.
- Create prototypes, conduct stability and compatibility testing, and refine formulas until ready for mass production.
- Apply innovative use of popular Korean ingredients such as cica, snail mucin, ginseng, mugwort, rice extract, fermentation actives, etc.
- Conduct market research and product benchmarking of Korean beauty brands.
- Identify global trends in Korean skincare/cosmetics, including new technologies, textures, and breakthrough ingredients.
- Provide product recommendations and new concept ideas to clients based on K-Beauty insights.
- Prepare technical documentation: formula sheets, MSDS/COA reviews, stability reports, and BPOM regulatory files.
- Ensure all formulations comply with Indonesian and international cosmetic regulations.
- Collaborate with Production, QC/QA, Purchasing, and Marketing teams to ensure smooth product transition from lab scale to mass production.
- Provide technical explanations to clients during meetings and presentations (online/offline).
- Train internal teams on active ingredients, formulation logic, and K‑Beauty standards.
- Investigate and resolve formulation issues during scale‑up or mass production.
- Reformulate and improve existing formulas based on customer feedback or quality issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related fields.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Cosmetic R&D Formulator.
- Strong experience in Korean skincare/cosmetic formulation is a major advantage.
- Deep understanding of active ingredients, emulsifiers, surfactants, preservatives, essential oils, and functional ingredients used in K‑Beauty.
- Skilled in developing formulas such as toner, essence, serum, ampoule, emulsion, cream, sun care, cleansers, masks, and basic makeup lines.
- Familiar with MSDS, COA, and BPOM requirements.
- Experience in production scale‑up processes.
- English proficiency is required; Korean language is a strong plus and Korean nationality is a significant advantage.
- Creative, detail‑oriented, and trend‑aware with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple development projects.
