Location: Flexible working arrangements at SWM offices in central Birmingham and at home
Duration of post: Permanent, after three-month probation
Full-time hybrid role: Five days per week (37.5 hours) although part time considered
Salary band: £20,000 – £30,000

2. Main Purpose and Role
The primary purpose of this role is to support the growth and retention of our membership base through effective communication, strategic marketing, and operational excellence. This role plays a critical part in enhancing member value, supporting business development, and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Membership Growth & Engagement: Manage and monitor communication channels to effectively convey the value of membership and support growth initiatives.
Marketing & Communications: Coordinate and maintain a marketing events and communications calendar aligned with the Membership Strategy.
Operational Delivery: Contribute to the daily execution of tasks and processes that support annual membership operations and activities.
Process Improvement: Apply a strong understanding of membership processes, procedures, and policies to ensure efficiency, scalability, and the development of new supportive systems.
Business Development Support: Assist with business development activities through targeted communications and strategic support.
Project Management: Deliver efficient and effective project management, ensuring objectives are met on time and within scope.
Consultancy Support: Provide logistical and administrative support for wider consultancy projects as needed.
Person Specification Requirements
At least 2 years’ experience of supporting marketing and communications activities.
At least 1 year managing projects with track record of managing resources (budget, time, skills) for delivery.
1-2 years’ experience of delivering multi-channel marketing, ideally with SEO optimisation.
2:1 degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in a humanities subject or a marketing, graphic design or business administration qualification.
Competence in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Understanding and use of social media for marketing as well as copy writing for newsletters and press releases.
Experience of using CRM systems, web content management systems including WordPress, and other relevant online and social media tools such as LinkedIn.
