Co-ordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including the delivery of high-quality teaching, assessment, and feedback to students. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching and learning that stretches and challenges them to be the best they can be. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of delivering designated courses, including maintaining the virtual learning environment and ensuring all planning and tracking adhere to College policies.

Lecturers should be passionate about their teaching area and enthusiastic about developing engaging course materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with the appropriate A-Level curriculum. Provide academic support and guidance to promote positive learning outcomes and develop employability skills. Regular target setting and progress monitoring are essential to ensure all students reach their full potential.

The following outlines the main priorities of this role as directed by your line manager and is not exhaustive:

1. Deliver high-quality teaching within the English specialism (A-Level English Language, GCSE English Language, and Access to Higher Education – English Literature), including preparing teaching materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans. Develop and implement the curriculum, undertake quality assurance, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain statutory compliance such as safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
2. Manage day-to-day course activities, including communication, problem-solving, timetable management, arranging cover, coordinating work experience and enrichment activities, liaising with departments, and ensuring compliance and consistency across sites.
3. Assist with recruitment, manage enrolments, and organize induction programmes to ensure correct course placement for students.
4. Conduct meetings with students, set and review SMART targets, assist with UCAS references, support pastoral needs, and liaise with college services to support student success.
5. Monitor attendance and results, report on performance metrics, and develop action plans for improvement where necessary.
6. Support English and Maths provision through class and one-to-one sessions, monitoring attendance and student progress.
7. Participate in meetings, events, and college activities, including parent evenings and CPD events, and mentor new lecturers as needed.
8. Contribute to departmental administration, including updating records, producing reports, and managing the Virtual Learning Environment.
9. Engage in college committees and quality assurance activities, including verification, moderation, and course reviews.
10. Perform internal verification, moderation, and standardisation for curriculum consistency.
11. Ensure timely completion of UCAS references and liaise with higher education institutions.
