Job summary
A civil engineering contractor in Essex is seeking an experienced Site Manager for a major infrastructure project. In this role, you will oversee site operations to ensure safety and quality standards, manage subcontractors, and coordinate with various teams. The ideal candidate will hold a Civil Engineering qualification and possess strong skills in site management, compliance, and cost control. This position offers a salary of £50,000+ along with a car allowance.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering a major infrastructure package in Essex. The project involves a complex mix of enabling works, utilities, and public realm improvements. The successful candidate will play a key role in site operations, helping to deliver critical infrastructure supporting wider urban development.
You will be responsible for leading on-site activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, technical specifications, and programme targets. This role requires strong coordination skills across engineering, commercial, and delivery teams.
- Oversee site operations to ensure safety, quality, and progress
- Ensure works are delivered in line with approved designs and specifications
- Support planning, technical queries, and stakeholder meetings
- Work with commercial teams on forecasts and cost control
- Manage material logistics and site documentation
- Civil Engineering qualification
- SMSTS and CSCS
- NEC contract experience preferred
- Strong civils or highways background
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate on-site teams
