Job overview

Full-time post, on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, with scope for extension.

Barts Health NHS Trust has a vision to be a high performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond.

The Women’s and Children’s Division is seeking an enthusiastic Trust Doctor (ST3 +) who wishes to pursue career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The Trust is committed to supporting the post holder in developing their career within the department.

NUH Obstetrics & Gynaecology are very proud to serve this diverse local community, and this is an exciting time to be part of the team. Our maternity services have just successfully met all 10 of the essential safety standards required in the Maternity Incentive Scheme to improve the quality of care for women, families and newborns. The hospital is the site of approximately 5,800 births annually, and deals with a wide range of gynaecological pathology. The size of the O&G department is considerable, when compared to the relatively small size of the hospital, and offers exceptional training opportunities.

If you would like to join us in this exciting, rewarding environment, please contact Zakia Balghari, College Tutor, at zakia.balghari@nhs.net for an informal chat.

Main duties of the job

The Trust Doctor ST3+ will have duties similar to Specialist Registrar year 3-7, working under the guidance of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant.

Presence in the hospital is required for all shifts.

The rolling rota will be provided prior to commencement of the post. A weekly rota is sent out each Friday, detailing daily duties.

They are expected to attend and manage patients in the antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinic. They are expected to attend operating lists, and manage the patients post operatively under the guidance of the consultant.
