A community mental health service in Great Yarmouth seeks a skilled Clinical Psychologist to lead and shape psychological services for youth aged 14-25. Are you a skilled and enthusiasticClinical Psychologistlooking to support in leading and shaping psychological services within a 14-25 yrs Community Youth Mental Health Service?

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an 8a Psychologist to provide high-quality psychological care, develop innovate clinical pathways and support staff and service users covering the beautiful Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. Although advertised as an 8a role, newly qualified Clinical Psychologists will be considered, commencing as a Band 7 with support provided to complete preceptorship requirements to progress to an 8a.

The role will involve working alongside a diverse multi-professional team, providing a high quality specialist clinical psychology service for individuals with complex mental health presentations. A variety of NICE recommended psychological interventions are offered within the team including Cognitive Analytical Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy, Family Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. There will be ongoing training opportunities to support the successful candidate in their continued professional development.

Main duties of the job

Clinical: Provision of specialist psychology assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for individuals, families and carers referred to the service. To provide specialist clinical psychology expertise, knowledge, advice, guidance and consultation to facilitate the effective and appropriate provision of psychological care.

Service Development: Supporting in access to up-to-date psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions, enhancing collaboration, treatment choice, and effectiveness.

Supervision & Line Management: Offer supervision to other professionals, Clinical Trainees and Assistant Psychologists within the team as appropriate, fostering a culture of learning and excellence within the service.

Training & Development: Supporting and where appropriate implementing and delivering training to embed psychologically informed practices within the multidisciplinary team, supporting a stepped care model of psychological care.

Staff Wellbeing & Resilience: Promote staff wellbeing by leading reflective supervision and post-incident support enhancing resilience and retention in challenging environments.

Service User Engagement: Support in co‑produced service development, empowering service users to actively shape psychological services through meaningful collaboration.

Innovation & Research: Collaborate with local universities to support teaching, supervise doctoral trainees. Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, including eligibility for chartered status with the BPS
  • Registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Further post qualification, postgraduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Evidence of CPD in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
Experience
  • Specialist complex psychological assessment and treatment of people with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexity.
