Applications are invited for the post of Disability Adviser working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London.
This full-time role provides an exciting opportunity to support our disabled students have a strong student experience and play an important role in the delivery of Royal Holloway’s wellbeing offering. The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range of student facing teams who are core to the student journey: Active Lifestyle & Sport, Chaplaincy, Counselling & Mental Health, Disability & Neurodiversity, Hall Life, International & Money Advice, Student Casework, Student Engagement & Insights and Wellbeing Support.
Reporting to the Head of Disability & Neurodiversity (job share) they will contribute to the work of the Directorate and support the strategy and aims of the University and Student Journey Division. Role holders will be expected to demonstrate our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful – in their work and be a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion.
The Disability Adviser will be able to work with disabled students across their time at university and be able to respond and advise on any disability support related matters. They will be required to provide specialist advice, guidance and information to current and prospective students with a disability, and through their work contribute to student recruitment, retention and attainment.
We are also seeking a candidate who has a strong knowledge and understanding of the disabled student experience and has experience in assessing and implementing reasonable adjustments. They should be strongly student focused, with a keenness to engage proactively and supportively with students on campus, and to consistently work with compassion, kindness and advocacy.
With roles in Student Life there is a need for campus-based working to enable in-person student appointments, daily drop-in services and engagement with students but there will be some opportunity for working remotely each week.
