Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist – Frailty at the Front Door

Full-time | Job share and part-time options considered | Includes weekend working

Are you ready to take your SLT career to the next level? We’re looking for a passionate, skilled, and forward-thinking Speech and Language Therapist to join our Acute Adult SLT team in a newly created Band 7 role. This is your opportunity to shape how SLT supports frailty care at the hospital front door—and beyond.

Why This Role?
  • Be a changemaker: This post is part of the Discharge Without Delay (DWD) initiative, designed to improve patient flow and reduce unnecessary admissions.
  • Work across boundaries: You’ll collaborate closely with both hospital and community SLT teams, helping to ensure safe, timely decisions for frail adults.
  • Lead with impact: Your early assessments will contribute directly to comprehensive geriatric care, influencing outcomes from the moment patients arrive.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver specialist SLT assessment and input in fast-paced acute and emergency settings
  • Build strong links with Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership SLT teams
  • Support admission prevention and safe discharge planning
  • Contribute to MDT education and service development
  • Bring innovation to how SLT supports frailty care in front door services
What You’ll Bring
  • Depth of clinical knowledge and experience working with frail adults
  • Confidence in acute/emergency care environments
  • A collaborative mindset and strong MDT working skills
  • Flexibility to support community SLT services during peak times
  • A passion for quality improvement and service innovation
What You’ll Gain
  • A supportive team with structured peer mentoring and supervision
  • Opportunities to work in a hospital team with diverse SLT specialities including stroke, ENT, head & neck cancer, and neurosciences
  • A chance to shape a new service area and grow your leadership skills

This is more than a job—it’s a chance to lead, innovate, and grow in a new role that bridges hospital and community care.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact and take ownership of a new frontier in SLT, we’d love to hear from you.
