Job summary
A leading property maintenance company in London is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support academic and research facilities. This permanent, full-time position involves performing maintenance on mechanical systems and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards. Candidates should have an NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline, proven experience in building services, and strong communication skills. The role requires the ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a busy property maintenance team supporting academic, research, and administrative facilities. This role involves working on a rotating 7-day shift pattern to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment
- Ensure plant and assets remain fully operational through proactive servicing
- Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety standards and complete risk assessments
- Use CAFM systems for reporting and assist with stock control to minimize downtime
- Recognized apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline
- IOSH Level 2 qualification
- Proven experience in building services maintenance and mechanical systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and fault‑find effectively
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service
- Computer literacy (MS Office; experience with Planon is a plus)
- Physically fit to work at heights and in confined spaces
Experience with systems such as:
Hot water calorifiers, pumps, fans, steam and gas boilers, ventilation, compressed air, chillers, heat pumps, district heating, and more
