Job summary

A global real estate and advisory firm is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their London-based data centre cost management team. This position involves leading cost planning, procurement strategies, and contract administration on major data centre developments across the UK and Europe. Ideal candidates will have a chartered status (MRICS) or be progressing towards it, with substantial experience in quantity surveying, especially in mission-critical environments. Some UK and European travel may be required, offering a dynamic work environment.

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Data Centres

About the Company (Client Confidential)

Our client is a global real estate and advisory firm delivering intelligent, tailored solutions across the built environment. Their specialist Data Centre & Mission Critical team partners with leading hyperscalers, developers, and investors as they expand and optimise large-scale facilities across the UK and Europe.

As the data centre market continues to accelerate, the business is expanding its Project & Cost Management capability and seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a passion for delivering technically complex projects.

The Opportunity

This role sits within the London-based data centre cost management team. You will lead cost planning, procurement, commercial management, and contract administration on hyperscale and colocation data centre developments across Europe.

The position requires close collaboration with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and commercial standards.

MEP experience or exposure to mission-critical, industrial, or high-technology environments is particularly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Management & Commercial Leadership
  • Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and estimates across all project stages, with strong understanding of MEP systems and data centre cost drivers.
  • Lead procurement strategies, tender documentation, tender analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Administer NEC/JCT contracts, manage change control, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial risk management and value engineering advice.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor to major data centre clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring excellence in service delivery.
  • Lead client meetings, provide strategic advice, and present commercial updates with clarity and confidence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and Europe, including real estate, project management, and technical advisory.
Project Delivery Across UK & Europe
  • Support projects across multiple European jurisdictions, adapting to local procurement routes, cost frameworks, and regulations.
  • Coordinate with local partners/consultants to ensure consistency in delivery.
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Competence
  • Chartered (MRICS) or working towards chartership preferred.
  • Strong background as a Quantity Surveyor within consultancy or contractor-side cost management.
  • MEP experience highly desirable, particularly in mission-critical, industrial, healthcare, life sciences, or similar environments.
  • Experience within data centres or major technology-led projects is an advantage.
Professional Skills
  • Excellent cost planning, analytical, and numeracy skills.
  • Strong communicator with proven client-facing capability.
  • Able to lead multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe as required.
