This is a great opportunity to join the growing and dynamic Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at North Bristol NHS Trust. We are seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow to start ideally from February 2026. This post is initially fixed‑term for 6 months. This is a non‑training post but the Clinical Fellows will get wide ranging clinical experience, supervised by consultant staff, including theatre lists, early pregnancy clinic, central delivery suite experience, emergency gynaecology, out‑patient clinics (general and specialist) and ante‑natal clinics (general and specialist). The post is funded by NBT for the post holder to participate in the ST1‑2 rota to ensure compliance with junior doctors' hours.

Main duties of the job.

• To further develop skills in the assessment of antenatal patients, normal and abnormal labour and postnatal care.
• To develop skills in instrumental and operative delivery.
• To gain experience in gynaecology – outpatients and theatre experience.
• Involvement in audit and quality improvement projects.

You will not be expected to take on any formal teaching responsibility. Help with informal teaching of ward‑based medical students is encouraged. If you have a particular interest in teaching, we will support you within the constraints of your timetable.

• MBBS or equivalent
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) accreditation
• Maintain full registration with the GMC

• Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MSc)

• Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
• Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience in a foundation programme approved training post, or equivalent, with evidence of achieving foundation competencies

• Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career
• Experience in audit project and write‑up

• Good written communication skills.
• Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues, and staff at all levels.

• Experience in teaching demonstrated.

• Proven track record in research.
• Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals.
