We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team to commence on 2nd of March 2026 (if a trainee you are asked to apply via the OOPE system and you need to be aware of the deadline process for this too). Applications are encouraged by residents currently in non training post with an earlier start date potentially negotiable. Previous experience in safeguarding, adolescent health and gender is highly desirable but not essential. The post holder will be expected to support across the GOSH and UCLH teams with the aim to gain experience in complex safeguarding.
Their duty will be to provide clinical care and input to the NHS Children and Young People\u2019s Gender Service (London) clinics, including providing a paediatric opinion as part of a multidisciplinary team for children and young people, and to support and develop service evaluation and research projects within the service in line with Cass recommendations and NHSE specifications, with a specific focus on safeguarding, including developing proposals, seeking ethical approval and funding, gaining consent, collecting and analysing data and presenting and publishing work.
This will help develop the evidence base to understand the nature and needs of young people with gender related distress and develop management and treatment strategies to best support them. It is also recognised that the new CYP Gender Service, which opened in April 2024, has a focus on understanding the wider needs of CYP with gender related distress. The post holder will learn skills in MDT working and complex history taking, formulation and development of management plans.
This job will be 50% based in General Paediatric Endocrinology including gender clinics at UCLH and 50% based in CYPGS. It is possible to negotiate evening and weekend 'on call' work in General Paediatrics. We are passionate about providing excellent clinical care alongside the best training opportunities.
