An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist. This is a full‑time post based at our MSK sites at Leamington Hospital and Southam Clinic. Part‑time requests will also be considered.

This role will provide you opportunity to supervise undergraduate and rotational physiotherapists and lead a variety of exercise classes and audits. We offer a generous monthly comprehensive in‑service training plan in which you will be supported to contribute.

Coaching and mentoring opportunities are on offer to aid your career progression as well as opportunity to deputise for Team Leads.

Our clinical sites are supported by a team of Advanced Practice physiotherapists who will be available to discuss clinical queries and provide opportunity for you to shadow their clinics. We also have close working links and support from physiotherapy colleagues in Pelvic health, Orthopaedics, Pain and Respiratory.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust covers a '7 day' inpatient service; hence this post also includes orthopaedic weekend working.

• To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in the specialist area.
• To work as an accountable and autonomous practitioner, holding responsibility for own caseload.
• To work in conjunction with the pathway and team leads in planning, co‑ordinating, delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service within the speciality on a day‑to‑day basis.
• To take a role in the provision of support and clinical supervision of less experienced physiotherapy staff and undergraduate students.
• To deputise for the team leaders as required.
• To keep accurate records of patient contact using written records and electronic data capture.
• To contribute to out of hours working as required.
• To maintain own competency to practise.

• Gain informed consent from each patient prior to assessment and treatment, adhering to Trust policies on consent.
• Undertake a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, including patients with diverse or complex presentations, gaining relevant information by clinical examination, observation, questioning, discussion and manual techniques.
• Apply advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate a clinical diagnosis and set therapeutic/rehabilitation objectives.
• Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on specialist evidence‑based practice, including manual techniques, patient education, exercise programmes or classes, electrotherapy and alternative options.
• Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.
• Formulate a prognosis and recommend best course of interventions, developing comprehensive treatments and discharge plans.
• Make informed clinical decisions on timely discharge planning and/or referral to other services.

• Communicate the clinical diagnosis and facilitate understanding of a mutually agreed treatment programme to patients and carers.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives or carers on a group or individual basis to maximise rehabilitative potential.
• Communicate with colleagues and other relevant professionals professionally, appropriately and timely.

• Supervise, teach and assess physiotherapy students to graduate level demonstrating advanced clinical ability and reasoning skills.
• Supervise other staff within the MDT as required (e.g., TIs, Assistants, medical or work experience students).
• Identify opportunities to improve the physiotherapy service and implement changes with senior support.
• Maintain competency and ensure safe use of manual handling, gym and electrotherapy equipment.

• Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy.
• Member of the CSP.
• Registration with the HCPC.
• Evidence of postgraduate training relevant to the clinical fields within the specialisms.
• Evidence of well‑rounded clinical experience within the relevant specialisms.

• Postgraduate experience as a rotational band 5 covering core areas within the specialisms.
• Experience working as part of a physiotherapy team and MDT team.

• Experience in contributing to clinical education, supervision of peers, students or less experienced staff.
• Involvement in clinical audit/research and understanding quality issues.
• Ability to deputise for seniors and act as peer mentor.

• Specialist knowledge within the post specialism, evidence‑led.
