Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist. This is a full‑time post based at our MSK sites at Leamington Hospital and Southam Clinic. Part‑time requests will also be considered.

This role will provide you opportunity to supervise undergraduate and rotational physiotherapists and lead a variety of exercise classes and audits. We offer a generous monthly comprehensive in‑service training plan in which you will be supported to contribute.

Coaching and mentoring opportunities are on offer to aid your career progression as well as opportunity to deputise for Team Leads.

Our clinical sites are supported by a team of Advanced Practice physiotherapists who will be available to discuss clinical queries and provide opportunity for you to shadow their clinics. We also have close working links and support from physiotherapy colleagues in Pelvic health, Orthopaedics, Pain and Respiratory.

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust covers a '7 day' inpatient service; hence this post also includes orthopaedic weekend working.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to patients in the specialist area.
  • To work as an accountable and autonomous practitioner, holding responsibility for own caseload.
  • To work in conjunction with the pathway and team leads in planning, co‑ordinating, delivering and evaluating the physiotherapy service within the speciality on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • To take a role in the provision of support and clinical supervision of less experienced physiotherapy staff and undergraduate students.
  • To deputise for the team leaders as required.
  • To keep accurate records of patient contact using written records and electronic data capture.
  • To contribute to out of hours working as required.
  • To maintain own competency to practise.

Job responsibilities
Clinical
  • Gain informed consent from each patient prior to assessment and treatment, adhering to Trust policies on consent.
  • Undertake a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, including patients with diverse or complex presentations, gaining relevant information by clinical examination, observation, questioning, discussion and manual techniques.
  • Apply advanced clinical reasoning skills to formulate a clinical diagnosis and set therapeutic/rehabilitation objectives.
  • Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on specialist evidence‑based practice, including manual techniques, patient education, exercise programmes or classes, electrotherapy and alternative options.
  • Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.
  • Formulate a prognosis and recommend best course of interventions, developing comprehensive treatments and discharge plans.
  • Make informed clinical decisions on timely discharge planning and/or referral to other services.
