ALTEN UK is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to support the delivery of complex and high-value projects within the Nuclear and Energy sectors. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate cost control forecasting and reporting across defined project scopes working closely with Project Controls Managers, planners, commercial teams and Work Package Managers.

• Maintain and update project budgets, forecasts and commitments
• Track and validate actual cost accruals and variances
• Support change control processes and assess cost impacts
• Prepare monthly cost reports, dashboards and sponsor reporting
• Collaborate with Work Package Managers to compile Monthly Project Reviews (MPRs)
• Provide analysis to support KPI performance monitoring and continuous improvement
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of cost systems tools and processes
• Engage proactively with stakeholders to ensure cost data integrity and alignment with schedules

• Detail-oriented and accountable with a strong sense of ownership
• Collaborative and communicative, able to work effectively across teams
• Passionate about accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvement
• Proactive, analytical and solution-focused

• 48 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls or a related discipline
• Proven knowledge of cost control, budgeting and change management
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query and data analysis tools
• Experience in large complex projects ideally within infrastructure, energy or nuclear sectors
• Familiarity with ERP / project controls software (e.g. SAP EcoSys, Primavera)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

• Experience with NEC contracts (Option C) and associated reporting
• Knowledge of commercial processes (NEC / FIDIC)
• Formal training in cost control estimating or forecasting
• Progress toward professional accreditation (RICS, APM, CICES, PMI or similar)
