Descripción del empleo
Paediatric ADHD Assistant Practitioner

The closing date is 04 January 2026

Are you passionate about working with and supporting children and young people who have been given a diagnosis of ADHD? We are excited to be able to offer a new opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant to join our growing ADHD Team.

This is an ideal role for someone with experience in child development, neurodiversity, or supporting children with additional needs - whether you come from a therapy assistant, support worker, education, early years or community care background.

The role will involve supporting the team's ADHD pathway, which will include undertaking your own assessment work, under the supervision of senior clinical staff. These may be based in clinics, educational placements, or other community settings across the Gt Yarmouth and Waveney area, therefore a full driving licence is essential to this role.

The successful applicant will hold exceptional organisational skills and have the ability to manage a busy but varied workload. A pro‑active and highly professional approach in providing both verbal and written communication is essential to this role, as you will be responsible for writing reports, liaising with other professionals and attending meetings. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of the team. You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of ADHD and other additional needs to adapt your own communication skills, to meet the needs of the children, young people and families you work with.

Main duties of the job
  • Working alongside Specialist Nurses (Non‑Medical Prescribers), community paediatricians and psychologists within the team.
  • Monitoring of physical health and post diagnosis support in line with safe prescribing of ADHD Medication.
  • Contributing towards EHCP assessments, school liaison and school meetings.
  • Opportunities to commence parent‑led workshops.
  • To work within a systemic and holistic framework undertaking needs‑led and evidence‑based assessments within the ADHD Nurse‑Led Service.
  • To work with children, young people, parents, carers and schools in a variety of ways to help support management of a child or young person's diagnosis.
  • Develop good working relationships with children/families/partner agencies/schools.
  • Be aware of the needs of relatives and carers, giving them advice and support when necessary.
  • To liaise with other professionals so that the child and family/carers receive an integrated multi‑agency approach.
  • To participate in the monitoring, research and evaluation of the ADHD Nurse‑Led Service.
  • To actively contribute to the implementation of the safeguarding agenda within the service, in partnership with the James Paget University Hospital Safeguarding Team.
