This is an exciting time to join Sandwell's Council's Adult Social Care Service. As an Advance Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to oversee day-to-day operations within the team. We provide a high-quality service in relation to all aspects of the assessment and care management process.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Social Care Team Manager with providing professional supervision to other team members.
  • Undertake prioritisation of enquiries from our customers and ensure a timely and proportionate response to requests for Care Act Assessments.
  • Demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and related legislative frameworks.
  • Supervise staff on a day-to-day basis, work in partnership with NHS and other professionals, ensuring that you have a strong customer focus, and deliver an enhanced customer experience that promotes wellbeing to local people in their local communities.
  • Enable people to live independently for longer by supporting people to retain or regain their skills and confidence and prevent the need or delays in deterioration wherever possible. Focus on the customer"s outcomes and contribute to the strategic outcomes of Sandwell MBC and partner organisations.
  • To have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory framework and Government initiatives relating to your service area, including safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable adults. Knowledge of information sharing and data protection in line with legislation.
  • Be responsible for the overall management of a service area, including practice, standards, quality and performance.
  • Undertake specific duties and responsibilities determined by the line manager and senior managers to enable the team to achieve its goals and objectives.
  • Work with the line manager to ensure effective functioning of the team in all operational matters.
  • Act as day-to-day budget holder for an allocated and devolved budget, ensuring services are delivered within resources.
  • Promote partnership working and integration within and outside of the council; supervise staff and, where applicable, students.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a Social Worker, registered with Social Work England, with experience in a busy Learning Disability & Autism Team.
  • Experience of partnership working, supervising staff or students, strong organisation, ability to work under pressure, and attention to detail.
  • Motivated and flexible with high professional standards and sound knowledge and experience of current legislation including the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Community DOLS/LPS and CHC.
  • Possess a Social Work Qualification (DipSW, Social Work Degree or equivalent), along with Social Work England Registration.
