Houghton Close Surgery has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated practice nurse to join the team on a part-time basis of approx. 12 - 20 hours a week.
General Practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who can work under pressure and prioritise their own workload.
Experience is desirable but not essential.

Job responsibilities
Clinical / Treatment Room Duties:
- To provide a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the practice in accordance with practice policies, clinical guidelines and professional standards.
- To undertake treatment room duties, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care at all times.
- To assess, plan, deliver and evaluate wound care, including acute and chronic wound management, and arrange follow-up as appropriate.
- To administer immunisations and vaccinations, including childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations, hormone injections and Vitamin B12 injections, in line with Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and national guidance.
- To perform electrocardiograms (ECGs), ensuring accurate recording and appropriate action in accordance with practice protocols.
- To undertake phlebotomy, including venepuncture and the safe handling, storage and transport of blood samples.
- To carry out cervical cytology in line with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme and current national guidance.
- To ensure infection prevention and control measures are adhered to at all times within the treatment room.
Record Keeping and Clinical Systems:
- To maintain accurate, timely and confiential patient records on the practice clinical system.
- To ensure all clinical documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
Professional Responsibilities
- To work collaboratively with GPs, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care.
- To participate in audit, training, appraisal and continuing professional development in line with NMC requirements.
- To adhere to all NHS policies, safeguarding procedures, clinical governance frameworks, and health and safety regulations.
Other Duties:
- To undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Partners, Practice Manager or Lead Nurse.

Qualifications
- - Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
- - Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- - Qualification in cervical cytology
- - Immunisation and vaccination training (including childhood and travel
health)
- - Phlebotomy training and competency
