Full Stack Engineer (JavaScript) – Early-Stage Tech Start-Up

We’re looking for a senior, backend-leaning Full Stack Engineer who thrives in the controlled chaos of a true early-stage start-up, the kind where there’s no QA team, no DevOps team, no predefined frameworks, no hand‑holding, and everything technical ultimately sits with engineering.

This is a role for someone who is genuinely a jack of all trades, comfortable wearing multiple hats across backend, front end, infrastructure, integration engineering, and delivering production-quality work without layers of support.

• Full Stack Development: Ship features across backend (majority) and front end (React / Next.js).
• Hands‑On Problem Solving: Own complex engineering challenges end‑to‑end in an environment with limited process and support.
• Integrations: Build and maintain mission‑critical 3rd‑party integrations and data flows.
• Infrastructure Ownership: Handle deployment, debugging, monitoring, release processes (no DevOps team in place).
• Quality Without a Safety Net: Write reliable, maintainable, testable code— you are effectively your own QA.
• Database Mastery: Optimise Firestore and PostgreSQL performance, queries, structures.
• Technical Initiative: Identify gaps, propose solutions, and implement improvements without being asked.
• Innovation: Research, evaluate, and introduce new tools, frameworks, or approaches.
• Product Impact: Your work hits production quickly and directly shapes the user experience.

• Have 5+ years full‑stack experience, with strong JavaScript / TypeScript depth.
• Are backend‑leaning, with deep Node.js and API experience.
• Have previously worked in early‑stage start‑ups or very lean engineering teams.
• Have extensive evidence of being a hands‑on individual contributor in complex codebases.
• Can operate without QA, DevOps, or heavy process—because you’ve done it before.
• Are comfortable taking responsibility for deployments, testing, reliability, debugging, and performance.
• Have strong experience with:

  • React / Next.js (or similar)

  • GCP & Firebase
• Thrive in fast‑paced, ambiguous, high‑ownership environments.
• Bonus: Experience in hospitality tech or fintech.
