Job summary
A public sector organization in Northern Ireland is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker. This role involves various duties, such as maintaining sports facilities, tree areas, and grass. The ideal candidate holds a relevant NVQ in horticulture or has professional experience in the field. A valid driving licence is also required. This temporary position offers a salary ranging from £25,583 to £26,824 per annum for 36 hours a week, with a closing date for applications on 22 January 2026.
Qualifications
- Must hold a relevant NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture or equivalent.
- Have awareness of Health and Safety requirements and safe machinery use.
- Must possess a full, current valid driving licence.
Responsibilities
- Set out and mark playing facilities.
- Maintain sports and amenity areas.
- Prepare, plant and maintain tree and shrub areas.
- Turf and maintain grass areas.
Skills
Education
The person appointed shall work as a member of the Grounds Maintenance Service, and be responsible for carrying out grounds duties under the direction of the Team Supervisor or other supervising officer.
- Basic setting out and marking of playing facilities.
- Maintaining sports and amenity areas.
- Preparing, planting and maintaining tree and shrub areas.
- Preparing, seeding, turfing and maintaining grass areas.
- Hold a NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture or an equivalent or higher level qualification relevant to amenity horticulture. OR have one year’s paid professional experience of working in amenity horticulture.
- Can demonstrate an awareness/knowledge of Health and Safety requirements relevant to amenity horticulture and the safe use of machinery/equipment.
- Hold a full, current valid driving licence.
