Overview
Portsmouth Water are looking for a Ground Maintenance Operator to join our Production Team and play a key role in keeping our Production Operations running safely and efficiently. In this hands‑on position you will support the day‑to‑day functioning of our operational sites by carrying out essential ground and site maintenance, ensuring clean and well‑maintained reservoirs and tanks, and helping to maintain clear, safe access across all areas. Your work will directly contribute to the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective performance of our Production Operational Department, making you an integral part of our site operations and overall success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform grounds maintenance across all operational sites to maintain appearance, cleanliness and full site operability.
- Ensure all grounds meet required internal standards and comply with external legislation and guidance.
- Carry out biodiversity‑related tasks, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, basic tree work and fencing repairs and upkeep.
- Monitor external activities around operational sites to ensure they do not compromise the integrity of water sources.
- Complete routine maintenance on grounds‑based equipment and associated assets.
- Work in full compliance with Company Water Production procedures, on‑site Health & Safety requirements, Quality Standards, OFWAT regulations, DWI (Drinking Water Inspectorate) requirements, Environmental Agency regulations and EUSR standards for clean water operations.

- Be flexible in your work to maintain operational requirements and ensure positive outcomes are always achieved
- Computer and smart‑phone literate
- Full UK driving licence (will be required to undertake our driving assessment)
- 3 years of experience working in landscaping, horticulture or similar (desirable)
- A to C grade or Level 4 or above, GCSE English, Maths and a science‑based subject (desirable)
- Level 2 qualification in horticulture landscaping (desirable)
