What is the job?
Ensure uninterrupted and on-time supply of manufactured items by scheduling production plans, managing MRP settings, and handling obsolescence/NPI releases to minimize gaps in product availability.
Working Hours: 7:30am to 6pm on a rota basis to support onsite Production Flow.
Thorlabs is a global optical technologies company specializing in photonics products used in manufacturing and research. With 22 facilities worldwide, our Ely site focuses on Motion Control and Optical Tables.
Our purpose-built facility is 12 miles from Cambridge, in Ely, accessible by train and bus from London.
Essential skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Willing to become a super user of ERP systems (AX 2012 or D365)
- Collaborative with production and logistics teams
- Flexible working hours for onsite support
- Develop and maintain production plans to meet delivery commitments
- Participate in daily planning meetings and respond to throughput issues
- Oversee release of production work in absence of team leaders
- Monitor capacity utilization and initiate corrective actions
- Manage ERP settings related to production planning
- Respond to sales requests for lead time and delivery updates
- Contribute to process improvements and lean initiatives
- Support NPI releases, obsolescence management, and transition to D365
