Job description
Overview

The Department of Histopathology is inviting applications for two Medical Laboratory Assistants at Band 2. The successful candidates will form part of the histology team alongside Biomedical Scientists, the General Manager and Clinical colleagues, and will be integral to maintaining the workflow of the laboratory. Support and training will be provided to ensure that allocated tasks are performed with confidence and competency, with guidance always available.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine daily tasks including receipt of pathological specimens, assistance with the pathological dissection of tissue, data input, block and slide filing.
  • Retrieve and file blocks and slides from St Luke’s Hospital.
  • Maintain equipment and machinery used in the laboratory on a daily basis.
  • Rotate through the laboratory inclusive of both Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, participating in activities at each area.
Location

Histopathology Department, Airedale General Hospital and other Trust sites as appropriate.
