At Shaw Trust we help give people with a criminal record the opportunity for a second chance by providing services to support them in custody and in the community. We provide people with the skills, knowledge, and a sense of purpose for life after custody, significantly reducing the likelihood of reoffending. We support at each stage of the journey, providing safe and supportive spaces to engage in positive activities and move toward integrating back into society.

We will be delivering the HMPPS Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) programme in London.

We are recruiting for people to join our teams in the role of CFO Custody Support Worker. In this role you will provide high quality support and guidance to participants, to help break down barriers to successful resettlement. You will help enhance participants' skill sets, helping them to find and secure sustainable employment opportunities.

You will undergo enhanced vetting checks for this role.

Qualifications and Experience
  • An understanding of the barriers faced by prisoners or prison leavers to reintegrate back into society.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including active listening and motivational skills.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • An awareness, understanding, and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
  • The ability to pass a Disclosure and Barring Service Check at an enhanced level and successfully pass prison vetting.
